What is Balloon Sinuplasty?
Balloon sinuplasty is an in-office procedure. The block sinus cavities are opened by inserting and inflating a small balloon-like catheter. When the balloon is removed, the sinus cavities can drain properly and flush out bacteria normally. Sinusitis symptoms can finally be a thing of the past.
Dr. Noel will numb your sinuses with a topical anesthetic. A specialized endoscope is inserted to locate the area needing treatment. Once located, a small catheter with a balloon is placed in the area.
Dr. Noel will dilate the sinus cavity by inflating the small balloon. The balloon is then deflated and removed, restoring proper sinus function and drainage.
In as little as an hour, patients who proceed with Balloon Sinuplasty can experience immediate relief. Patients can resume normal activities typically within 24 to 48 hours.I want to know if I'm a Balloon Sinuplasty candidate
Balloon Sinuplasty versus Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Endoscopic Sinus Surgery was the go-to in years past; however, this invasive surgery can lead to a recovery lasting weeks or months. Debridement is also required post-operatively. Debridement is the tearing away of scabs in your sinus cavities to prevent scar tissue from forming. Debridement is an uncomfortable experience and any scar tissue that forms could obstruct your airway.
Endoscopic Sinus Surgery is an irreversible procedure. The removal of bone and tissue from your sinus cavities is necessary when undergoing this permanent surgery. Wouldn’t you like to know if your eligible for a less-invasive option?
