Louisiana Allergies Monthly Calendar

Mild winters and a long growing season are part of what makes Louisiana such a lovely place to live — they're also why allergy season here rarely fully stops. Knowing what's pollinating each month makes it a lot easier to stay ahead of your symptoms instead of reacting to them.

Winter (December–February): cedar and early tree pollen

Louisiana winters are mildenough that allergy season barely takes a break. Cedar and juniper pollen typically peak in these months, and warm stretches can kick off early tree pollen from oak and pine before spring has officially arrived.

Spring (March–May): tree pollen in full swing

This is peak season for oak, pine, and pecan pollen across the Gulf Coast, and it's usually the toughest stretch of the year for tree-pollen allergy sufferers. That yellow-green dust coating cars and porches every spring is a visible reminder of just how much pollen is in the air.

Summer (June–August): grass pollen and mold

As tree pollen fades, grasspollen takes over, with Bermuda and Bahia grasses common culprits in Louisianalawns and roadsides. Add in the region's heat and humidity, and mold sporesalso become a bigger factor — especially after summer thunderstorms.

Fall (September–November): ragweed and weed pollen

Ragweed and other weed pollenspeak in early fall and can travel for miles on the wind, so even patientswithout weeds nearby can feel the effects. Mold remains active as fallen leavesdecompose, extending the season well into November.

Managing allergies all year

Because something is usually pollinating somewhere on the Gulf Coast calendar, many patients do best with a year-round management plan rather than treating each flare-up separately. At Noel ENT, allergy testing can identify exactly which pollens, molds, or indoor allergens are triggering your symptoms, so your treatment plan — whether that's medication, immunotherapy, or a combination — is built around your specific triggers rather than a generic calendar.
